Shedding his distinguished house music alias as Claude VonStroke and unveiling his birth name, Detroit-based producer and Dirtybird label boss Barclay Crenshaw is quickly catapulting in success, again, with a whole new sound. With his debut self-titled album out on Friday (Jan 27), Crenshaw is embarking on a month long tour of the US with a stop at Holocene on Wednesday, Feb 1.

While still retaining a fully synthetic sound, the new project is more an avenue for releasing hip hop-oriented beats and collaborating with various MCs, including Brooklyn rap team the Underachievers, recently reunited Cool Kids, Mr. Carmac, UK Dancehall artist Lady Chann and more. Even before the release of his debut album, Crenshaw has already received wide praise from the likes of the Los Angeles Times, nearly all esteemed electronic music publications, and has landed himself performance slots at Bonaroo Music & Arts Festival, Lightning In A Bottle and Sonic Bloom.

Below, watch the brand new, otherworldly video for “The Real X Files,” off Crenshaw’s forthcoming debut album, with a spirited vocal collaboration from Lady Chann. Grab tickets here to see Barclay Crenshaw live at Holocene on 2.1, and RSVP + invite friends to the event here.
