Preview: Fin De Cinema – Akira Kurosawa’s “DREAMS”

We’re beyond excited to bring back our Fin De Cinema series, pairing up classic films with local musicians to compose and perform a re-imagined live score. This time we’re screening the episodic 1990 magical realist film, Dreams, by one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema, Akira Kurosawa. Live scoring will be provided by the experimental bass clarinet player Jonathan Sielaff of Golden Retriever; the jazzy, intergalactic soul project Brown Calculus with singer Vaughn Kimmons (Brown Alice, Popgoji, Tribe Mars) and Tribe Mars keyboardist Andre Burgos; the shoegazing R&B artist Palm Dat (AKA Akila Fields, Shy Girls keyboardist); and the richly immersive and intricate electronic producer Dylan Stark.
