We live in Portland. It's nice. We make animations that take forever to create but progress at the same rate as we progress. We like dinner parties and board games.
Veiled in the sonic shroud of avant-pop’s murky soundscapes, Portland, Oregon experimental Duo Mordecai are forging an incendiary path. Comprised of lap-steel/vocalist Andrew Alexander Endres and violinist Kate Kilbourne the band came together in early 2016, conspiring darkly sweet, beat-driven bangers that fold in R&B swagger, electro mysticism, and pop sensibility.

Armed with a three-song demo, the band’s textured compositions utilize steady bass-and-drum against an unlikely lap steel/violin/effects tandem to create bizarre-yet-catchy progressions, as heard on songs like “Price.” The dynamism of Mordecai’s quiver of songs vacillates between the suave, the bleak, the pleading and the rapturous, usually within one track, endearing dark-pop progenitors and new-jack popsters alike.

Toothbone is a 3-piece hailing from Portland, OR. They bring together an array of music from different genres creating a sound completely their own. Toothbone brings an energy to live shows not to be missed. With all members having a background in jazz music, they have strong improvisational ideas about music. Each show has elements that previous shows did not have, a constant supply of new material, and new ideas. No two Toothbone shows are the same.

Toothbone is set to release a new self titled full length album on February 7th, 2018, recorded in Portland, OR with Riley Geare, formerly of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and producer of the new Reptalians album out on Captured Tracks. They will be touring in support of this album in late March through major cities from Austin, TX through Portland, OR.
