Celebrate Portland’s music community with XRAY FM, Holocene, Kill Rock Stars, and The Future of What. Over the last few years, The Future of What has highlighted the people and organizations that make Portland a music destination. Join us for a live taping of their 100th episode, featuring your favorite local musicians, labels, and innovators. Catch XRAY.FM DJ Klyph spinning between interviews then turn it up for a dance party with XRAY.FM's Strange Babes DJs after the show. This event will be broadcast live on XRAY FM as part of their Fall Fund Drive.https://www.holocene.org/event/1566329/
Kill Rock Stars is dedicated to putting out exceptional records by important artists. At KRS we believe in doing it yourself, and we see our job as helping bands to realize their visions. In a culture that rewards making mediocre music with a quick buck, we feel lucky that we get to work with artists who challenge mediocrity on a regular basis.
Guitarist for R.E.M..
Klyph has been representing the under-represented since 2009 on the Portland FM radio dial and expanded outlets of podcasting and live shows. With a consistent goal of inclusion and building community with talented individuals presenting a positive message.
Laura Veirs was born in 1973 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Attending college in Minnesota, she studied geology and Mandarin Chinese. At that time, she joined an all-girl punk band called "Rair Kx!" before moving towards older country and folk.
She put out her own self-titled album Laura Veirs, recorded live and featuring just her and guitar, in 1999. She has since made several records with producer (and husband) Tucker Martine.
