Release party for the new Sheers single, "An Occasion"! Funk, R&B and experimental pop rub shoulders on this soulful bill of local talents.

Sheers
Sheers
Sheers, an art pop duo fronted by Lily Breshears, coaxes listeners into otherworldly piano riffs and time feels with her memorable melodies and hip-hop grooves played by jazz drummer Grant Pierce. After years of being a backing musician for groups such as Haley Heynderickx and Big Haunt, Breshears sought to combine the thoughtful lyrics and emotional catharsis offered by those songs with the tension-laden music she plays as a classical harpist and pianist. "Depth," the single from Sheers' debut eponymous EP set to be released in September 2016, can be found on the 2016 PDX Pop Now! compilation.
Tribe Mars
Tribe Mars
Tribe Mars is a guerrilla faction of freedom fighters combating against the forces of tyranny and systematic oppression through music, art, and spiritual practices learned from our extraterrestrial Martian brothers many lifetimes ago on the Red Planet.

Their expression through the use of their instruments channels these ancient practices and beliefs, which are then internalized and etched into the souls of those exposed to their tight grooves and soulful vocals
Amenta Abioto
Amenta Abioto
Songwriter, producer, and actor, Amenta Abioto is on the cutting edge of all that is musical, theatrical, and literary. Her music is boldly mystical and soul-fired, and her raw live performances invoke elements of both theatrical surprise and magic through ancient African diasporic sounds and stories. Weaved into syncopated rhythms and dichotomies of comedic proportions, Amenta surprises and tantalizes audiences with mind bending ideas. She brings to the music scene funky academia while skipping vocally from soul shaking gospel to smooth jazz and then onto hip hop rhythms wrapped in West African beats.

Graduating from Idllywild Art’s Academy in 2010, she trained in musical theatre. Since graduating she has courted the music scene and produced one self-titled EP, Amenta Abioto , and one upcoming album, Opening Flower Hymns. Receiving inspiration from the best-seller work Women Who Run With the Wolves, mythological characterization and cultural stories are reflected in the original works of Amenta Abioto.
