Gran Ritmos is proud to present a ZZK records showcase in celebration of their 10 year anniversary.
ZZK Records is set to turn 10 in 2018. What began as a weekly party in the underground Buenos Aires music scene has turned into nothing short of a musical revolution. The epicenter of the “Digital Cumbia” and “Folktronica” laboratories, ZZK Records is renowned for reviving South American sounds for the hyper connected 21st Century. With artists like Chancha Via Circuito, La Yegros, El Remolon and Frikstailers, to name a few, nothing has been the same since ZZK decided to bring their sounds out of the sweaty club nights and showcase it for the world, in albums, tours, videos and more.
King Coya & Queen Cholas
King Coya, danceable alter ego of Gaby Kerpel (De La Guarda, Fuerza Bruta) a pioneer of folklore fused with electronic music, brings a powerful live performance together with the dance troupe “Queen Cholas”. Showcasing diverse elements of Latin American folklore (chacareras, carnavalitos and cumbia) in a unique interactive celebration for the global dance floor.
Mixing trip hop with folklore, drum and bass with cumbia, Dat Garcia is ZZK Records 1st female beatmaker. Captivating audiences with her powerful stage presence, innovative songwriting and eclectic demeanor, she proves the Buenos Aires digital folk scene isn't just a men's club anymore.
EL G is the DJ name of Grant C. Dull, label manager of ZZK Records, co-founder of Zizek Club and a 6-year adopted citizen & cultural ambassador of Buenos Aires. DJ sets of El G are powerful showcases of ZZK music: past, present and future. B-Sides, mashups, bootlegs, official and unofficial releases plus the newest music from the ZZK label is tested on audiences during his fiery, eclectic and intensely fun DJ sets. El G has commandeered ZZK Records as a global movement, both behind the scenes and on the turntables at festivals like Coachella, Roskilde & Summer Stage in Central Park, NYC. El G also runs WhatsUpBuenosAires.com. "If the past couple of years are any indicator, this perpetually-in-the-know man might be one of the top tastemakers of 2010." --Black Book Magazine
Michael Bruce & Coast2C (Gran Ritmos residents)
Gran Ritmos celebrates regional styles while finding cultural connections and sounds in new places. A culture clash where Americans make Cumbias and Latinos play Acid House.
