“Folk Magik Presents”

AUTOMATIC / OMNI

https://omniatl.bandcamp.com/

AUTOMATIC:

Automatic is Izzy Glaudini (synths, vocals), Lola Dompé (drums, vocals) and Halle Saxon (bass, vocals). The band first met while immersed in L.A.’s DIY music scene and started jamming together in 2017. Over the past year they have become a mainstay on the L.A. club circuit. In June 2019 Automatic announced their signing to Stones Throw.

Automatic’s debut album Signal is out now. They’re touring Europe in October, and North America with Black Marble in November.

OMNI:

Enter Networker, the new album by Omni and first with indie giant Sub Pop Records. Their sound is still defined by sparse drums, locked-in bass, blistering guitar, and nonchalant, yet assured vocals, but from the first notes of “Sincerely Yours” you’ll immediately notice that Networker sounds much cleaner and more “HI-FI” than their prior two albums, Deluxe (2016) and Multi-task (2017). The departure in fidelity suits the new record and allows the listener to enjoy the nuances of their meticulous arrangements. Don’t worry, the riffs of Gang of Four and Wire are still present, but the production is more lush and the harmony is even more expansive.  Despite nods to the sounds of the ’70s and ’80s what comes through is a record fully rooted in the here and now.  Thematically, this is apparent on the title track “Networker” taking a candid snapshot of the “digital you” aspect of life in the age of the internet.  The otherwise fun romp “Skeleton Key” also acknowledges the “direct message and obsessive” side of social media with lines like “if you don’t like what you see, the pretty face on the screen, scroll on by…”

Vaccine Policy

To keep our customers, staff and community safe, Holocene will require proof of fully-Covid-vaccinated status* for entry into the venue.**

This decision was made in response to the surging and highly transmissible delta variant, in Oregon and across the US. In the close-quarters of a music venue — with customers drinking maskless, singing, dancing, talking in each others’ ears — the best way we can keep customers safe is to ensure the people in the room have the strongest protection from Covid, and especially from its worst outcomes. We appreciate your understanding.

We’re continuing to monitor Oregon Health Authority requirements, vaccination rates and Covid cases and will notify our audience on this page and elsewhere if this policy can be lifted or needs to be adjusted.

*To be considered fully vaccinated, you must have had both shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and have a minimum of 2 weeks that have elapsed since receiving your final dose. Proof of vaccination requires display of your vaccination card, in person or a photo on your phone, so long as the name on the card matches the name on your official ID.

** For those who are unable to receive the vaccine for a medical reason, we may, on a case by case and event by event basis, be able to allow proof of negative COVID PCR test within 24 hours of the event. To be considered for this option, you MUST contact us in advance to make arrangements at hc@holocene.org If you don’t want to or can’t show proof of vaccination for a show, we’ll be happy to give you a refund up to 14 days prior to the show date.
