More details at holocene.org/vaccine The creators of NoFOMO, Circuit Breaker, and the Gay Nineties are proud to announce a new, collaborative venture in queer Portland nightlife: OPAL UNDERGROUND. Opal is a precious gemstone that displays a huge variety of characteristics depending on how it is formed, resulting in a rainbow of diversity and color. Like queer club culture, opal is formed underground, only revealing its beautiful colors for those who know where to look. As a producer of events in Portland, Opal Underground aims to incubate left-of-mainstream queer nightlife culture, elevate local creators, and create inclusive spaces for community healing and authentic self-expression. Opal Underground’s debut event at Holocene, on Friday September 24, is a showcase for all three of our flagship event brands: NoFOMO celebrates Portland’s distinct, home-grown flavor of left-field dancefloor psychedelia. DJs StormyRoxx and Sappho go back-to-back with slow-motion acid techno, swirling cosmic disco, rare-groove rarities, and everything in between. Circuit Breaker plugs you directly into the matrix of the future queer dancefloor. Experience genre-defying experimental club, techno, trance, hyperpop, and rave from DJs Orso, DJ Don’t, and othrwrld. Show Me Love is the evolution of The Gay Nineties events featuring all 90s house music on vinyl. Resident DJs The Prey and Sappho will continue to celebrate the underground club and rave aesthetics of the 90s as epitomized by the likes of Masters at Work, Murk, MK, Armand Van Helden, Daft Punk, Deee-Lite, Robbie Tronco, Danny Tenaglia, Junior Vasquez, Crystal Waters, Romanthony, and more. In addition to packing three parties into one night, the debut Opal Underground event at Holocene will be headlined by Portland’s queer hip-hop superstar MAARQUII with a full-length life performance at midnight! Legendary Portland party girl Cody Jamez is our hostess with the mostess. The safety of our beloved community is our first priority.
