MCR-T is the musical alias of Julian McCarthy, an artist who navigates the tension between high-energy club sounds and socially conscious expression. Born and raised in Berlin-Zehlendorf with Jamaican-American roots, Julian grew up between contrasting worlds, absorbing the layered identities of the city’s underground. While he first gained attention under the name MCNZI, known for razor-sharp bars and political urgency, MCR-T emerged as his dancefloor-facing alter ego: bold, charismatic, and unmistakably Berlin. His sound channels a raw hybrid of Miami bass, booty house, ghettotech, and hard techno—infused with the voice of someone who refuses to be overlooked. “I like to use my voice like a drum machine,” he explains. “It’s rhythm, power, presence.” Since joining the label LIVE FROM EARTH, MCR-T has become a staple in Europe’s club and festival circuit, performing at Berghain, EDC, Nuits Sonores, and Boiler Room. Beyond the decks, his collaborations with Partiboi69, DJ Gigola, and SixSex expand his sonic universe with humor, force, and intimacy. In the studio, MCR-T is prolific and hands-on. His 2024 album "NOT THE SAME ≠ (2024)" marked a post-pandemic shift: a crystallization of his approach to club music that celebrates both individuality and collective energy. Heavily influenced by 80s minimalism, 2000s internet aesthetics, and Berlin’s unfiltered rave culture, his sets are fast and relentless. For MCR-T, the club is more than a stage, it’s a site of transformation. “Every night is a chance to connect with people through volume and joy. I don’t care if it’s 200 or 20,000—it’s about what happens in that one moment.” Sounds by: MCR-T (Berlin) Support: Hommes (LA) Kaylita Zteca

Stephen Dawes is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose music tells a coming-of-age story set against a backdrop of handcrafted alternative pop, rooted in loose beat-craft and breezy Stratocaster-spun riffs. Born in New York, Stephen spent his early childhood in a small town on Cape Cod before moving to San Francisco. He began piano lessons at 4-years-old, started writing original songs by fourth grade, and in High School joined jazz band and learned how to produce. Stephen was first discovered as a freshman in college when he recorded an acoustic rendition of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” that exploded with over 200 million Spotify streams and over 50 million views on YouTube. Since then, he has released two EPs titled “Up At Night” and “The Day We Met” and a handful of tracks including “Reputation,” “Irregular” and “Symptoms.” In early 2025, Stephen was the opening act for Matt Hansen’s European tour, and also opened for Griff in 2024 on the Vertigo Tour. https://stephendawesmusic.com/ (https://stephendawesmusic.com/)

Born and raised in Connecticut, Jake Minch burst onto the scene in 2023 with his hit single “handgun,” racking up 1.3 million views on the song’s initial teaser and earning support from the likes of Noah Kahan, Lizzy McAlpine, Zach Bryan, Gracie Abrams and FLETCHER. Over the last few years, the 2for2 projects/Mercury Records artist has garnered a dedicated fanbase through his deeply personal lyrics on love, growing up, and grief. This past July, Minch released his highly anticipated debut album George, produced alongside acclaimed producer Tony Berg (Phoebe Bridgers, Taylor Swift). Written between Los Angeles and Connecticut, the 12-track project explores grief, guilt, and identity through the lens of Minch’s early twenties, capturing the angst and disorientation of leaving home with striking vulnerability. The album has received widespread acclaim from outlets including NPR Music, Stereogum, The Line of Best Fit and Ones to Watch, with TMRW Magazine declaring, “Jake Minch is Your Favorite Songwriter’s Songwriter,” while Holler calls the record a “Great American Novel” cut into pop songs. Minch has toured the world over, sharing stages with the likes of The Head and the Heart, Jeremy Zucker, Ben Abraham, Holly Humberstone, Grace Enger and Sadie Jean, and recently wrapped a successful two-part North American headline tour in support of George.

Sophie Truax is the kind of artist who, when faced with a bad Tinder date, builds a puppet of them and writes a song about it. A Seattle-born, self-taught multi-instrumentalist and lifelong crafter, Sophie fuses music, handmade puppets, and razor-sharp comedy into a tiny felt universe that’s entirely her own - a world where the rolly backpack kids win, the weird girls get the encore, and every uncomfortable feeling gets purged by making things with your hands. Behind the playfulness of Sophie’s exterior is a deceptively sharp creative practice and deep exploration of self. The audience that found her didn’t hit ‘follow’ because she chased a trend, but because her vulnerability and uniqueness is a breath of fresh air in the cluttered and exhausting timeline we all know too well. The puppets aren't the bit - they’re parts of Sophie. Representations of the parts of yourself most people shove into a box in the corner of their minds and never have the courage to stare at in the face. Sophie shows others not only to explore your inner world deeply, but to show it compassion and care. Through example, she accepts all the wonky parts of herself through humour and felt. Sophie’s EP “Can’t Split a Worm” pushes deeper, using the same disarming whimsy to crack open the hardest parts of being a person - heartbreak, self-doubt, the quiet shame of being a little too much or not enough for the room. It's pop music as a mission of un-embarrassment, acceptance of every version of you. The title itself is self-aware. We can’t have good without bad, pretty without ugly, a version of yourself you like without a version you don’t. You can’t split a worm. (contrary to popular belief, the worm just dies.) Keep up to date with Sophie Truax on Instagram | TikTok | YouTube | Spotify

Amélie Farren started writing songs at twelve because she needed somewhere to put things. That hasn't changed. At 18, she writes alt-folk/alt-pop songs specific enough to make a listener feel like they're inside a moment they know well but never had words for. Her debut release suffering has passed 24 million streams. Unsweetened Lemonade (2024) followed with over 70 million, finding listeners across the US, UK, Europe, Asia and South America through songs that people kept coming back to. Her debut album Airheaded, produced by Michael Keenan in LA, is a collection of songs about obsession, complicated attachment, and the odd parallels between the person causing harm and the person on the receiving end. In May 2026 she has a new EP, Infanescence. Where Airheaded was about what people do to each other, Infanescence is about what time does to a person. It sits in that gap between still feeling like a kid and knowing you're not one anymore. -- Lilith Max is a master of storytelling, weaving tales of enchantment and whimsy. Her fantasy-folk-inspired music pulls the audience into a world of knights, myths, and magic, giving listeners room for their imagination to roam free. Originally from northern Germany and living in the U.S., Lilith began diving into the world of myth and folktale early on. German stories like the Erl King (Erl König) and fairytales like Rumpelstiltskin sparked her curiosity, so she incorporated their magic into her music. Through alluring melodies, Lilith also highlights the deeper meanings in her work. In tracks like “Circe”, “Peasant’s Throne”, and “Call Down The Dragon”, the artist addresses topics of female rage, social pressure, climate change, inner struggle, and more. With catchy rhythms and deep lyrics, Lilith creates layers of enjoyment for those who wish to dance along and those who wish to hear her powerful words. Having spent much of her teenage years in the acting industry of Hollywood, Lilith integrates cinematic drama into her stage and online presence. Fans know Lilith Max for her unique music skits and the soul-piercing expressions she casts at the camera. On stage, Lilith becomes a whirlwind of dancing and twirling, evolving her performance with every shift of the music.Lilith Max’s exceptional vocal range and vocal control are a hallmark of her music. She fills the air with angelic high notes and pulls the audience into the depths of her low timbre. -- Rabbitology is the project of Nat Timmerman—a world that was pulled from her odd-running mind. A little land of the harebrained and burrowing. Simply follow the three-legged rabbit prints until you’re knee deep in this world’s eclectic soundscapes, and here you will discover a collection of memoirs turned into fantastical sonic short stories. Stay as long as you like. Make this world your home too. It’s a little unusual in here, but that’s life!

The band’s music is an abrasive mix of heavy riffs, shoe-gazey atmospheres, and dynamic rhythms, with lyrical themes that focus on isolation, relationships, and societal issues. Their shows are loud and energetic, garnering an experience that coincides with the musical aesthetics. Infinite Crush, the latest release from the quartet sees them pushing into darker musical territory blending trip-hop beats and nu metal textures into their sludgey, alt-rock sound. Glorybower Bio: Glorybower is a PDX mathrock/emo 5-piece with influences from 2nd and 4th Wave emo revival groups such as Glocca Morra, Algernon Cadwallader, Cap'n Jazz, and Mock Orange. As Above Bio: As Above is a shoegaze/alternative band from Portland, Oregon.
Madi Gaines is a Portland, Oregon based artist who started writing songs in her bedroom at 16 as a way to make sense of the world around her. What began as a personal project eventually grew into something she wanted to share outside of her apartment. In 2024, she formed a band and began playing shows around the Portland area, focusing on new material and building a local following. Her music sits somewhere between shoegaze and indie rock, with a bit of grit and girl rage mixed in. -- Chipped Nail Polish started with an electric ukulele and a bad manicure. Jill Sullivan, the mastermind behind it all, launched the project several years ago while studying at the University of Oregon. Immersed in the school’s vibrant DIY music scene, she emerged not only with an EP, but also with a close-knit community of like-minded musicians. For years, the band was based in Portland, OR, built around an evolving mix of friends Sullivan met throughout the Oregon music scene. The ethos of Chipped Nail Polish has always been rooted in community and connection, with live shows filled with audience participation, silly jokes, and unexpectedly tender moments. Now in a more nomadic chapter, Sullivan has left behind her Portland home for the time being. She’s traveling light, with just a few belongings—including a tiny 3D-printed ukulele. In the quiet stretches between cities and borrowed spaces, she found time for solitude and reflection. During that period, she wrote her first full-length album: a collection of memories, personal reckonings, and hopeful glimpses of what’s ahead. Chipped Nail Polish draws from indie rock, lo-fi pop, and surf punk, blending jagged energy with a softer edge. The songs are raw and personal, shaped by sharp lyrics, emotional honesty, and an understated sense of humor. The debut album, After Ankeny, arrived in September 2025, marking a new era of change, movement, and the bittersweet process of growing into yourself. -- Since her early days of musical performance as a college student in Charlottesville, Virginia, Maria DeHart has been on a continuous journey of building her sound. Starting in 2018, the Portland, Oregon-based artist has traveled through a few distinct phases, going from acoustic songwriter to loop-pedal expert to full band frontperson. Her debut release, an EP called “Win Some, Lose Everyone” released in October of 2023 on the east coast-based indie label Self Aware Records, is a brief yet strong run of filled-out songs that signals a development in DeHart’s self-actualization. While prepping for its release, DeHart decided it was the perfect time to adopt an official name for her project, Myriads, which nowadays includes much collaboration and feels significantly bigger than just herself. Myriads’ most recent EP Find Ourselves Again is their first studio-recorded production, recorded and mixed by Joe Anderson at Helvete Studios in Portland, Oregon and mastered by Chris Baglivo at Jamtown Recording Studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It’s an exploration in dream pop with a healthy dose of emo and folk influence. Overall, the EP is a study of love, happiness, depression, and the search for meaning in these universal human experiences. It’s Myriads’ most honest and thoughtful endeavor yet, and the group is excited for what is to come.

Formed in 2018 by longtime DIY musician Jordan LeVeque, whose punk rock bonafides include a stint as the final resident/booker of North Portland standby Fail House, Slender Gems are a murderer’s row of some of the city’s finest musical talents. Equally influenced by the big, opened-tuned chords of 90s slacker-rock and the elegant shredding of 70s AOR, they are at once grandiose and intimate, with LeVeque’s acerbic observations of our spiritually bankrupt world, a resounding clarion call over their guitar pyrotechnics Rambush is an experimental sludge-pop trio originally formed in Portland, OR in 2012. Members, Jack Stringer, Hank Smith, and Joey Furness have now found themselves in Los Angeles to start anew after a 7 year hiatus. Blending a mixture of grunge, rock, pop, and experimental sounds, Rambush is recognized by their dynamic arrangements and multi-part vocal harmonies. Portland's Collate play music that recalls late ’70s/early ’80s minimalist post-punk, and loops through the styles and genres influenced by that music a million times until you end up with a sound that is evocative of the past but also modern—kind of like when you photocopy and re-photocopy something until it distorts and becomes something new and weird. The lyrics are sometimes blatantly political but always wry and clever. Collate always handles themselves with cool restraint, even when frustration, anger, and joy are palpably bubbling under the surface. Made up of Erika (bass/vox), Jacyn (guitar/vox), and Janie (drums), Collate has put out two full lengths, two 7”s, and a handful of random tapes over the years and there’s more to come.

Her latest album The Patterns Lost to Air, out on Thrill Jockey Records, has been called "spare, but not simple" and "one of the finest examples of contemporary ambient music in 2026.” David Wesley Golightly (Hair and Space Museum, Midday Veil) is a pianist, synthesist, and composer based in Oakland. With his solo piano album Seven Songs for Solo Piano, he offers simple, drifting, and meditative pieces to encourage deep listening and sympathetic resonance. Live video:https://youtu.be/VsCWzh2mh3Y Social: https://www.instagram.com/davigoli/ Marcus Fischer is an interdisciplinary artist and musician based in Portland, Oregon. He is a first-generation American artist that exolores the possibilities of sound to exoress convey ideas and information. Through the creation and transformation of sound, rischer constructs immersive, layered compositions for live performances and exhibitions. Site-specific assemblages of exposed speakers, tape loops, and handmade objects are characteristic of his installations, often paired with melodies of restraint and tension. He contributed two sound works and two performances to the 2019 Whitney Biennial as the only artist from the Pacific Northwest region included in that installment. Fischer's most recent solo exhibition "What Was Lost and What Remains" addressed themes of loss, generational trauma, and gun violence in the United States. Marcus has recorded and performed nationally and internationally as a solo artist and in collaborations with artists including Taylor Dupree, Aki Onda, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Laura Ortman, Stephen Vitiello, Calexico, Raven Chacon, and Eileen Myles.
Jewelry Exchange is a Portland, Oregon based band probably describable as post-punk. They’re better described as a heady mix of noise rock, krautrock, and dance punk, with musical goals of immediacy and intentionality in equal measure. Most especially known for their live shows, you can expect movement, sweat, and their singer bopping in and out of the crowd. Their new record Bedazzled is laser focused on the improbable relationship between chaos and groove. Angular guitar meets syncopated dancefloor bass; odd-time signatures meet sixteenth-note hi-hats. Lyrically, it’s a breakup album. The juxtapositions are the point. Bedazzled is available now on all major streaming platforms and Bandcamp. Links to Bandcamp: https://jewelryexchange.bandcamp.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jewelryexchange__/ The Social Stomach is a voice and drums duo created by Diana Oropeza (lyrics) and TJ Thompson (music) as an alternative to traditional poetry readings. Inspired by the nature of social beings, they invite a rotating door of artists to collaborate with them. Live, they blend their written work with improvisation as a way to keep the work alive, to remind both performers and listeners to be present, and to invite chance and the opportunity for surprise. Negative Concord is Portland’s emergent electronic and ambient jazz duo. With Richard Sabon (Rum River Cult, Shawna Pair, No Attempt) playing the ondes martenot and electronics, and Patrick McCulley (Cliff Walker, Zebra) on saxophone, Negative Concord seeks to measure opposing temporal and linguistic realities with sonic frameworks, flexible timbres, and nebulous rhythms. Having released their self-titled first album in September of 2024 the duo is currently working on their second album, Nokturno, smashing together influences from their heroes in the techno, dance, ambient, and jazz worlds. https://negativeconcord.com/ https://www.instagram.com/negativeconcordband/ https://negativeconcordmusic.bandcamp.com/album/negative-concord

Sassy 009 is the shape-shifting project from Oslo-based producer, songwriter and vocalist Sunniva Lindgård. After finding early acclaim as a trio with 2017’s Do You Mind EP, Sassy 009 rebooted as a solo vehicle in 2019, later evolving into 2021’s sultry, bass-driven Heart Ego mixtape. But for Lindgård, the forthcoming Dreamer+ is her true debut: a concept-driven album pieced together from nearly four years of studio effort, and an ambitious attempt to take complete control of her artistry. Steered by freshly distorted vocals and elements of grunge, shoegaze, ‘90s beatronica and gauzy hyperpop, the album is a record of self-discovery and self-effacement at once, studded with guest contributions from Blood Orange, BEA1991 and Yunè Pinku.Dreamer+ is work of fiction at its core, a grim fairytale in which dreams and emotions are processed through a landscape of shapeshifting characters, dark forces and moral responsibilities. Sent on a mission to an abandoned town, Lindgård is her own main character, hurled into a “magical but distorted dream-like world” after a fatal encounter: “Her love for Jakov is absurdly intertwined with his dying; no path could lead her away from it.” The album opens with ‘Butterflies’, a premonition of the rocky road that Dreamer+ is heading down: scorched breakbeats ripped apart by the revving of a motorbike and notes of Air, Yves Tumor and yeule. The pop-forward shoegazing of ‘Edges’ gives way to slinky broken beats on ‘RIP Time and Thoughts’, lambent post-Tirzah R&B on ‘Dreamer’ and ‘90s alt-rock memories on ‘My Candle’. Dev Hynes wraps his instantly identifiable vocals around ‘Tell Me’, a grungy torch song led by Lindgård’s Blood Orange-inspired guitar. Singer-songwriter BEA1991 adds a silky touch to ‘Sleepwalker’s Pendulum’, spookily providing the same harmonies that Lindgård had originally imagined for the song. Irish dance diva Yunè Pinku drops daisy-fresh vocals into ‘Mirrors’, as Lindgård confronts a recurring dream where “you can't tell where the way out is – you just see different angles of yourself.”‘Ruins of a Lost Memory’ completes the journey by sampling a melancholy melody written by Lindgård’s parents – both classically trained musicians – for a Eurovision Song Contest entry in the ‘90s. Coming at the end of an album about love, loss and mourning, it’s the final piece of the puzzle – “like the credits after the film ends,” she says. With her fantasy story as scaffolding, Lindgård sets herself free as a songwriter, taking inspiration from the organic electronica of Gorillaz, the hazy moods of Boards of Canada, Nirvana’s grunge pop logic and even Lil Wayne’s deftly distorted vocals. Tackling recording from the ground up, she felt herself finally “stepping into that producer role,” imagining herself writing for a live band instead of “being lost in the chaos of 200 layers,” she laughs. Dreamer+ is an album Lindgård has imagined for years. It has taken on many forms, shapes and sizes. Like those morphing silhouettes you see at nighttime, this distinctive body of work has been an ever-evolving assimilation of disciplines. Its final form is a crystalising constellation of connected works—a bricolage of thought, feeling, and creative desire. Each element offers a familiar entry point into the same underlying themes: identity, memory, and the shifting boundaries of self—where the dreamer is the only witness / only one who remembers.

Formed in 2019 Rita Lukea (Vocals)・Jonathon Freund (Synth) ・Tyler Ommen (Drums) Pixel Grip’s sound is both seductive and confrontational – a dark, club-driven sound that blends elements of synth-pop, EBM (electronic body music), house, and industrial into their own edgy, danceable, and immersive ethos. Pixel Grip is known for their high-energy live performances and moody, avant-garde aesthetic. In 2024 they toured as direct support to noise-rock contemporaries, HEALTH. Followed by a (sold out) North American headline run of their own, which included a stop at the iconic punk festival RIOT Fest. Often exploring themes of desire, power, and liberation, underground cult classics such as “ALPHAPUSSY” & “Demon Chaser” have been used in campaigns by fashion powerhouses such as VERSACE & Alexander Vauthier. Relentless touring and placements with major brands have helped push Pixel Grip to the forefront of indie music. Pixel Grip’s ensuing LP (Summer 2025) arrives as they prepare to expand their reach into the EU & UK for the first time. On their third album, Percepticide the Death of Reality, the Chicago-trio looks within and around at a shifting landscape of fragmented perceptions and social disengagement. The album marks an important part in each of their lives, both musically and personally. Recorded over three years in Los Angeles & Chicago, each member privately faced their own demons, including betrayal, addiction, and neglect. "Percepticide" a portmanteau – a term that originates from – "percipere" (to perceive) and -cide (to kill) – in essence "the killing of perception." ‘Percepticide’ is a cognitive distortion and a symptom of trauma – beliefs you hold to be true are shattered – as you question everyone and everything around you. My dream is that the expression of my rage can help someone else feel empowered and at the very least, less alone. You’re never stuck, and you’re never alone, say Lukea.

ILUKA is an Australian born, Los Angeles based singer/songwriter whose career has taken off over the last year with a string of viral songs that have quickly landed her a cult following. Defined by a raspy vocal and a cowgirl twang, with the addition of her signature style she is shaking up all the right elements of a uniquely crafted artistic cocktail. Raised on a farm in the Blue Mountains of Australia, ILUKA learned the craft of song and soul from her father, a skilled luthier. His handmade guitars were more than instruments—they were the foundation of her sonic journey. From the start, ILUKA has been driven by a singular vision to create music that is brave. Her songs are both vulnerable in their storytelling and memorable in their protest. Themes of resistance, strength, and solidarity pulse through her work, inspired by the fearless influence of artists like Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks. ILUKA doesn’t just make music—she creates anthems for those who dare to speak their truth and stand their ground. With features in Rolling Stone, FLAUNT Magazine, and NME, ILUKA’s impact is just beginning but if she has anything to say about it she’ll be a force that’s here to stay.
Sign up for presale here → https://drop.cobrand.com/d/AvalonEmerson/andthecharm-august Now one of dance music’s most respected DJs, Avalon Emerson first made a name for herself in the storied warehouse scene of her birthplace, San Francisco, before relocating to Berlin in 2013. Over a decade of performances at the famed Berghain led to appearances at numerous festivals around the world which all cemented Emerson as perennially in demand. Her DJ sets transcend the confines of time or genre by recontextualizing dance music from previous eras among contemporary sounds weaving together house, techno, new wave, disco, and rave obscurities with her own productions and edits. In 2019 she launched 9000 Dreams, her own international series of events, as the curatorial expression of her musical vision. Showcasing the breadth of her eclectic taste over the course of a club night, artists on the lineup range from heavy hitters to exciting new names. In 2020, she released her first full-length collection: a contribution to the long-running DJ-Kicks series (which Resident Advisor described as “The sound of a well-honed DJ at the top of her game.”), nestled alongside a steady stream of remix releases for the likes of Four Tet, Slowdive, Robyn and more. Next up was 2023’s Avalon Emerson & the Charm, an instant classic which saw Emerson exploring her singing voice and more traditional songwriting outside of the boundaries of her dance music work. Created after a move to New York, the resulting & the Charm album was released to critical acclaim, landing on numerous critics’ best-of-the-year lists. In 2025 Avalon focused on her DJ career with a heavy schedule of worldwide touring including a 9000 Dreams tour, a celebrated closing slot at Dekmantel festival, and the release of Perpetual Emotion Machine, a series of singles created for her DJ sets, spanning genres and decades, and delivered as a living, evolving project. In 2026 the stage is now set for her to carve out a wholly unique path starting with the release of the propulsive, breakbeat assisted “Eden” and the announcement of Written into Changes, the second full length from the Avalon Emerson & the Charm project and the first to be released by indie powerhouse Dead Oceans. A slate of worldwide & the Charm tour dates will follow.

Florida-born artist ivri builds the world she sings from—one shaped by D.I.Y. alternative, intense pop, shoegaze, rock, and sci-fi soul. Her emotionally raw writing and genre-blurringsound have earned billions of views, hundreds of millions of streams, and early praise fromoutlets like OnesToWatch. “I’m building a world for ivri,” she says. “It’s my real name, but also an identity I can observefrom the outside. I love science fiction, fantasy, whimsy, and storytelling. Whatever you’refeeling—heavy, nostalgic, wronged—I have a song for it. I fit anywhere.” Raised in Daytona Beach, she grew up fast, helping care for three siblings with autism anddeveloping the deep empathy that now informs her music. She once planned to become amineral physicist or join the Air Force, but music eventually pulled her in. At 14, she wasdiscovering Gang Starr and Sam Cooke alongside Twenty One Pilots, Bring Me The Horizon, and Deftones, and drawing inspiration from films and shows such as Steven Universe,Adventure Time, and the cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space. She began postingvocals online for fun—but everything changed when she heard her voice sampled onSadBoyProlific’s “Alone,” a future hit with nearly 150 million Spotify streams.“That moment showed me music could change my life,” she says. With her vocal samples gaining momentum online, she kicked off her solo career with therelease of a series of EPs including Sometimes (2022) and The Star Factory (2023), leading toher 2025 breakthrough, The Theory of You. Lead single “tower of memories” became aphenomenon—4.5M+ video creations, #1 Rock on SoundCloud, #1 on the TikTok Viral Chart, and nearly 100 million on-demand streams within months. Referring to her artist persona, “ivri came out of the star factory and got hit with reality,” shesays. “The heavier feelings in my adulthood brought heavier sounds and emotions to themusic. I had personal issues with relationships, family, and friends. For me, ‘Tower ofMemories’ is about the people who enter and leave your life—and how the memories canswallow you whole.”

SLOW MAGIC Darkness and light, aggression and gentleness, ecstasy and reflection: these dualities define Slow Magic’s third and strongest project to date, Float. An expansive and inventive compendium of modern electronic pop, the enigmatic producer’s latest spans a multitude of genres and moods resulting in a listening experience that makes for its own journey. Written and recorded over the past two years, work on Float commenced shortly after touring behind 2014’s dreamy How to Run Away, the record’s jagged and surprising new sounds taking shape after a leisurely trip to Iceland in order to “try to get away” from things. A subsequent trip to Japan—wherein Slow Magic performed in the country for the first time—further solidified what would go into the album’s sonic and visual motifs. Float marks a number of “firsts” for Slow Magic: it’s the first time the producer’s worked with live drums, as well as the first time they’ve brought guest vocalists into the Slow Magic world, from MNDR and Swedish electro-rockers Kate Boy to like-minded producer Tropics and Antlers frontman Peter Silberman. But it’s a testament to Slow Magic’s unique creative approach that these different voices coalesce on an album that presents a uniform vision even as it embraces exuberant creativity. Music has always provided a retreat for anyone looking to lose themselves in pure sound, and Float is a trip that no one will regret taking. Recently, he put out his 5th studio album, forgotten feels, and in 2024 he plans to put out a how to run away bonus disk around the 10 year anniversary of his second album. In 2026, slow magic plans to release his 6th studio album “emotion engine” in the summer. with local support from Hotel Pools

A reflection of both the industrial grime and the sun-soaked glow of Los Angeles, Casket Cassette is the project of Constant Williams, blending euphoria and melancholy into a sound that evokes the complexities of the human condition. The music is dark yet danceable, drawing from post-punk, darkwave, new wave, EBM, synthpop, and alternative influences to create something both nostalgic and new. The name comes from a childhood memory of Williams’ father recording a live song onto a cassette and placing it into his grandfather’s casket as it was lowered into the ground. That image still lingers in his songwriting, where themes of loss, addiction, heartbreak, and recovery meet flashes of humor, resilience, and the will to keep moving forward. Williams lives in Los Angeles and earned his MFA in Poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in 2024. Casket Cassette will be releasing new music through 2026 and heading overseas in May for its Wave Gotik Treffen debut, marking the start of a new chapter for the project.

THIS SHOW HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO SEPTEMBER 10TH. ALL TICKETS FOR THE ORIGINAL DATE WILL BE HONORED. Matthew Dear was raised in Kingsville, Texas, and bounced between trailer homes, raised on a diet of country and rock until his older brother, inspired by the developing romance between South Texas and electronic music, gifted him cassettes by artists like Depeche Mode and Nitzer Ebb. His dad was a fisherman and managed an Elk’s Lounge where he played guitar. Matthew moved to Michigan with his parents in 1995 and at age 16 began recording acoustic guitar music to 4-track tapes. In the late ‘90s, he discovered the abandoned warehouse rave scene in Detroit and started making techno music on ensoniq sampler. In college, he delivered pizzas and threw his own raves in the pizza shop basement on the weekends. Matthew met Sam Valenti IV at a college house party and became the founding artist on the Ghostly International label. Matthew had already brought his demo cassette to the legendary Carl Craig who said he was looking for something more “mind expanding” and encouraged him to keep working on his music. His first release on Ghostly (also the label’s first) was a split 12” with the late Dave “Disco D” Shayman. The title track was called “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit,” which a decade later would be sampled and turned into a #1 International hit. Matthew also helped shape the sound of Ghostly’s dancefloor offshoot, Spectral Sound, with several releases under his techno alias Audion. Twenty years later his music would be released by Carl Craig’s label as the project Brain. Matthew’s bedroom-crafted debut album, Leave Luck To Heaven, came out in 2003 to praise in the New York Times and a four-star review from Rolling Stone. His Asa Breed and Black Cityalbums allowed him to drift further out, the latter being named Pitchfork’s Best New Music. In 2012 he released Beamsto further acclaim and toured internationally with Depeche Mode and Hot Chip. In 2016 Matthew retired from a life of wanton excess, after years of drug and alcohol-induced malaise. For his 2018 album, Bunny, Matthew collaborated with Tegan and Sara as well as Detroit’s Protomartyr, and Ricardo Villalobos. Throughout the years he has remixed Spoon, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and The Postal Service and lent his ideas/ears to General Electric, Microsoft, and Ford. MGMT invited him to remix every song from their album Little Dark Age. In 2021, Matthew released Preacher's Sigh & Potion: Lost Album, a collection shelved from a decade earlier.
Tyondai Braxton Splayed Werks (Erased Tapes) By Piotr Orlov “My philosophy on releasing music has changed a lot, but also my idea of what it means to be an artist. The important part of the artist’s job is to archive what you're doing—what you're excited about, what you're dealing with, what you're reacting against—putting that in a form that documents your life… At the moment, we're all looking out into the world, dealing with the helplessness in a time of war, media over-saturation. What's the role of the artist in that? I think the archiving of any particular creative idea in the moment is one of the most significant things an artist can do now. Things I previously thought were important—’this piece means so much to me,’ or ‘listen to how this chord arrived’—are actually much less so.” Even at first blush, Splayed Werks, Tyondai Braxton’s fifth album, his first full-length release since the recording of his 2018 symphonic work, Telekinesis, reveals itself as unlike what came before and marks the beginning of a new chapter with UK label Erased Tapes. First off, there’s a lot more music here, 70+ minutes of pure electronics and sound design. Plus, it’s divided in a way that’s out-of-step with the longer forms the 47 year-old composer/producer has previously imagined into being. Of the album’s 15 tracks, more than two-thirds are sub-five minutes. The album brings together mostly newer works alongside pieces composed across the past decade, some of which appeared previously as standalone releases. To fully represent the scope of this period, Braxton incorporates the Dia / Phonolydian (2022) and Multiplay (2023) singles into Splayed Werks, foregrounding the project’s long-form compositional arc. Along with “Salt Point” and previously unreleased commissioned works such as “4 Zones” (2018) and “K Space” (2021), these pieces were always part of a broader, evolving body of material. Here, they are re-edited as newer versions and remastered by the excellent Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios in London and woven into a continuous narrative. The result is not so much a compilation, but a record that traces its own lineage in real time: a body of work composed across years, now fully realized as a single, cohesive statement.

Holocene is thrilled to present the return of Sam Prekop & John McEntire, known together as “Sons Of”, for an intimate performance in our front lounge room. The event will be partially seated, with standing room available beyond that. All seating is first come, first served. Please note that there will be audio documentation of this performance. Sam Prekop and John McEntire are two artists, who together and as individuals, have expanded the definition of rock. Each is acclaimed for their singular musical voice and for their sonic innovations. Beyond their work together in The Sea and Cake, Prekop has garnered acclaim for his solo releases in ensemble or on modular synthesis, as well as for his visual art and photography. McEntire is one of the most celebrated engineers, composers, and drummers in forward-thinking music. With nearly three decades of experience working together, this is their first full-length collaboration as a duo. It was something they both have wanted to do for a long while, and a natural fit for two artists drawn to incorporating electronic music into rock and jazz contexts. Sons Of finds two master craftsmen working at the nexus of pristine production and skillful improvisation, forging compelling narrative arcs into glistening metropolises of infinite pulse. Sons Of is as sonically curious as it is inviting. The elaborate array of synthesizer modules, samplers, trigger pads and effects which the duo implement all serve as potent tools in unearthing unique textures and untapped worlds of possibility. Over the album’s four pieces Prekop and McEntire apply their intrinsic understanding of pop architectures to create dynamic movements. Their sound is one of transformative fluidity, each passing beat marking a sense of familiarity while the surrounding atmospheres are in constant flux. A steady pace to the tracks allows space for new sounds to breathe and evolve. Ever-shifting tonalities and magnetic grooves propel the music with persistent momentum without feeling hurried. Throughout the album, the duo exudes a spontaneous ease, unafraid to settle into a particular cadence or veer into entirely new directions on a dime.
