Holocene is a music + arts venue, nightclub and events space in the core of inner-SE Portland. Since the summer of 2003, Holocene has been hosting touring acts from folk to minimal techno, Portlandâs own most exciting musicians, unforgettable dance parties, and all manner of arts and multimedia parties that blur the line between highbrow and down-and-dirty.
Located in the the old Best Auto Parts warehouse on the corner of SE 10th and Morrison, Holocene is a 5000sf, 312-person venue with soaring white walls, 25â² ceilings, spindly bow-trusses, and a metric ton of hand-built modern detail. Holoceneâs two main rooms are each equipped with a superb sound system, video projection, lights, and performance area. A wall between the two will also fold agreeably out of the way, making one large space. Youâll find a floor plan + main audio system manifest below.

The short answer is Yes. Almost every weekend night from 9pm on, weâre open for some kind of excellent dance party, with reasonable covers. But we host a wide range of music and events, so you may want to check the calendar and see which nights youâre most excited about.

Nearly all nights at Holocene are 21+. However, we can host both private and public all-ages events, and do host the occasional all-ages show (always very clearly marked on the calendar).

All customer spaces inside Holocene are accessible to a wheelchair, and we have two ADA bathroom stalls, one in each of our gender-neutral bathrooms. Nearly all of our live shows are standing-room, with some barstool seating on the side and rear of the stage room.
If you need to sit on a chair-height seat (or if no stools are available and you need to sit), please let any of our staff know and they will be happy to get you set up with everything you need. Arriving on the early side can make this simpler, but theyâll be able to work it out regardless.
