Alela Diane & The Hackles celebrate “It’s Always Christmas Somewhere” — their album of holiday favorites, released last winter. Last holiday season, Alela‘s husbandjoked that her song The Pirate’s Gospel was ripe for a Christmas rendition, where the pirate-like lyrics of“yo-ho, yo-ho ho” in the chorus could be adapted to a “ho-ho, ho-ho ho”. The conversation of making aChristmas album continued overseas while Alela was on tour with folk trio The Hackles (Kati Claiborn, LukeYdstie, Halli Anderson also known from other projects such as Blind Pilot, Horse Feathers and RiverWhyless) in early 2023. Amused by the idea of Weird Al-ifying The Pirate’s Gospel — one of Diane’s mostpopular songs in Europe — The Hackles and Alela laughed about the idea of creating The Santa’s Gospel, andshared increasing excitement about collaborating on a full length Christmas album together. Within a few months of their return from tour, the musicians, all residing in the lush environs of the PacificNorthwest, began to track down their favorite holiday songs and share them among each other to see whichones might stick. Having arrived at a list of favorites, they gathered in the coastal town of Astoria, Oregon inearly May and recorded the album in just a few days. Luke and Kati’s daughter Hazel, who is 9, was confusedthat they were learning Christmas songs at that time of year. One Spring day, while Christmas music wasreverberating through their house, she quipped: “Well, I guess It’s Always Christmas Somewhere…” the titlestuck. Alela Diane and The Hackles have made good on their intentions. They have delivered a definitive Christmasalbum, shrouding some of the classic and most beloved Christmas songs in sparse, delicate arrangementswith all the appropriate holiday spices. It is sure to delight the very listeners who, with eager anticipation,pull out all of their decorations and commence decking the halls while queuing up their favorite holidaytunes. Sophie Truax w/ monty.pk – EARLY SHOW! – All Ages
Sophie Truax is a 23 year old singer, songwriter, and child of divorce from Seattle, WA. Shortly after dropping out of Berklee College of Music and heading back west, Sophies first single “Untether” landed on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist, creating a ton of industry buzz around an artist project that up to that point, felt more like a labor of love than a viable career option. Since then Sophie has continued developing her unique take on pop music alongside superstar producer Sean Cook (of Shaboozey “a bar song” fame) and has also exploded on social media, gaining several hundred thousand followers across TikTok and IG in only a few short months thanks to her unique blend of traditional slice-of-life short form content, and her one of a kind hand made puppets that she’s begun incorporating into all of her content. Meant to be a reflection of the themes and stories within her music, Sophie makes a puppet for every song she releases, building a world that extends beyond the music itself. Sophie plans to release a collection of songs later this year, with a debut run of headline concerts coming in the beginning of 2025. — Arizona native monty.pk never planned on becoming a full time artist and producer, but here we are. Formally a bio-med engineering major at ASU, monty hadn’t considered music a viable option for himself until he broke out on Tiktok at the end of 2020, which ultimately lead to him dropping out and relocating to Los Angeles to fully commit. The architect of several subsequent viral moments, including 2023’s Tiktok Spotify AI DJ trend which used his song “prism”, monty has been slowly building a very dedicated and engaged fanbase around his unique blend of electronic indie, pop, and most recently country/americana sounds and themes.
