Laura Jane Grace is a major figure in today’s rock scene as both a solo artist and the front person of Against Me!, which she founded in Naples, FL in the late 1990s. As a working artist, she has released six solo offerings and seven albums with Against Me!, and in 2012 went public with her gender transition in the pages of Rolling Stone. In her music, she continues to detail her journey all while staying true to her earlier themes of outspoken political critique – environmentalism along with personal and social liberation – with a base in American music including country and folk-rock, with a penchant for noise and anarchy. Laura Jane will be joined by her band “The Mississippi Medicals” featuring Matt Patton of Drive-By Truckers (bass), Mikey Erg of The Ergs (drums) and Paris Campbell Grace (vocals, percussion).

Theo Parrish is a true sonic architect, an artist whose work fuses the disco-based pulse of Chicago house with the mechanised soul of Detroit techno and the improvisational drive of jazz. In his words, “Jazz spawned house music, jazz spawned hip-hop, jazz spawned funk and they all reflect back into that.” His genre-melding, mind-melting sets have been revelatory experiences for those hearing them over the last 20 years. He continues to engage, challenge, and redefine the limits of what we call Black dance music, serving as an example of creative independence.

Astrid Sonne w/ Jasmine Wood – Early Show – 21+

Astrid Sonne is a Danish, London based composer and viola player. Throughout heracclaimed discography, Astrid Sonne has been carefully crafting different moodsthrough electronic and acoustic instrumental endeavours.On her most recent album “Great Doubt” (January 2024) this skill is refined, now withthe distinct addition of the composer’s own vocal in the fore. The tone of each trackis unmistakably Sonne’s, structured around contrasts through an impeccable senseof timing. Lyrics on the album are sparse, merely highlighting different scenes oremotional states of being, leaving the music to fill in the blanks. Yet they also form apattern of ambiguity, consolidated through the album title, searching for answersthrough looking at how and what you are asking, questions for the world, questionsof love.The viola, a trusted companion since Astrid Sonne’s youth, appears effortlesslythroughout the album, fully integrated into the sonic universe; through a pizzicatodriven arrangement in the poignant track “Almost” or along with booms and claps inmutated cinematic stabs during “Give my all”, paraphrasing Mariah Carey’s 1997ballad. Yet the string section also gives way to explorations of woodwinds,counterbalancing the bowed movements with digital brass and airy flutes. Finally,beats and detuned piano are fresh additions to the soundscape,
