The Scarlet Opera – w/ Baby Fisher – Early Show! – ALL AGES

Fusing the grandeur of the theatre with the raw energy of rock and roll, The Scarlet Opera – a five-piece band hailing from Los Angeles – offers an escape into the throes of love, lust, glamour, and passion. Formed as ‘Perta’ in 2016 and reborn in 2022, The Scarlet Opera is led by lyricist and frontman Luka Bazulka, whose authentic narrative and vocal prowess are matched only by the musical talents of band members Colin Kenrick [keyboard], Daniel Zuker [bass], Justin Siegal [drums], and Chance Taylor [guitar]. The band’s origins are tied to one fateful night when Colin, upon witnessing Luka perform an inspiring solo vocal set, enlisted longtime friends and seasoned musicians Daniel, Chance, and Justin to provide a new dimension to what was already brimming with potential. Word of packed venues and a captivating live show soon drew the attention of SB Projects and Republic Records, who turned to hit songwriter and producer David Stewart (BTS, Jonas Brothers) to collaborate, inspire, and further ignite an already growing fire. Inspired by the Scarlet Lettering of the misunderstood and misrepresented – the music, the shows, the glamour are all devoted to the outcasts – to the sexually liberated – to those who don’t come from wealth – to those who are divine. with support from Baby Fisher!

Their latest album ‘Tear’ showcases the band’s ability to blur the past and present seamlessly, creating a timeless nostalgia that could grab audiences at any point over the last four decades.
Dreamer Isioma, Amindi – All Ages

Dreamer Isioma (they/he) their debut album, Goodnight Dreamer, arriving February 23. The out-of-this-world project from the Chicago-based Nigerian American artist centers on Dreamer, a stylish character who embarks on a multi-dimensional expedition through time and space to solve the questions they have about their existence. A kaleidoscopic journey of popular music history, the album sees Isioma exploring a multitude of genres from Afrobeats (a nod to their heritage and the fact that the earliest humans originated on the African continent), to 1950s rock ‘n’ roll, ‘70s funk and R&B, and eventually, modern pop and electronic music. Through this story, the 21-year-old lays out his own personal misadventures in love, self-identity, and achieving their dreams—unafraid to sing frankly about their uncertainty and mental health, while still boldly claiming their self-worth. Possessing cool confidence and the sensitivity of a heartthrob, Isioma offers a new archetype of relatable stardom and paints his own vision of the genreless future. Isioma started conceptualizing Goodnight Dreamer in 2020, around the time he released his breakthrough debut EP, Sensitive, whose groovy and audacious title track later went viral on TikTok. The track has since clocked over 80 million streams, landed Dreamer on Rolling Stone’s Breakthrough 25 Chart ranked at #6, and hit #1 on Shazam’s Predictions 2021 Chart. Single, broke, and overwhelmed from navigating early internet fame, he imagined himself traveling to other dimensions. Throughout the rest of the year, even while promoting their second EP, The Leo Sun Sets, they fueled their curiosities by researching outer space, time dimensions, the ocean, and existential philosophies. These ruminations are the backdrop to the narrative of Goodnight Dreamer, which opens with “StayUp!” a psychedelic Afrobeats song that sees Isioma urging someone to manifest their dreams in their waking life. The explosive track “Sunset Drive” captures Isioma’s exceptional tenacity and celebrates their newfound sense of self. By the time the project gets to the dreamy pop-R&B closing title track, Isioma ends with the message that it’s now safe to fall into slumber, which he describes as a metaphor for being reborn, because the journey is complete. Goodnight Dreamer indicates growth for Isioma, who recently publicly announced that they are taking on the name of the Dreamer character for themself. “I’m becoming who I want to be,” they explain. The conceptually expansive project is an audacious step toward Isioma’s broader goal to “be someone who shifts culture—whether that be the culture of me being Nigerian, or the culture of me being queer, or the culture of me being Black in America,” as he puts it. It’s clear that Isioma is already on the way to achieving this mission, since Goodnight Dreamer tells the tale of them actively turning their dreams into reality. The young phenomenon has solidified himself as one of today’s most exciting artists through their meteoric rise. Isioma has amassed 100 million career streams across catalog and become a bonafide critical press darling, lauded by Rolling Stone, Complex, Billboard, Pigeons and Planes, Nylon, them., Wonderland and many others. Additionally, Isioma recently wrapped their debut headlining US tour including explosive performances at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and others.
KOKOKO! – w/ YAWA – Presented by Holocene and Soul’d Out Productions -21+

Holocene is proud to partner with Soul’d Out Productions to bring you: KOKOKO!“KOKOKO! excel at turning chaos into euphoria” Pitchfork“Get to know the soundtrack of Kinshasa, a powerful protest project… KOKOKO!” i-D “Energetic and explosive… inspiring a thriving alternative dance” TED Global “KOKOKO! is an explosive new musical collective that thrives on ingenuity” TIME “This is more than survival. This is genius” AFROPUNK KOKOKO! Exploded onto the electronic music scene in 2018 and quickly rewrote the usual western narrative of what electronic music is and, more importantly, what “world music” isn’t. The band’s colourful approach, wild, uncontrollable sounds and instruments rapidly tore up any perception, pre-condition and performance of an African band of the past. KOKOKO! created the DIY instrument spectacle that has since forged a path for other bands to follow, meanwhile KOKOKO! have become more electronic and percussive, they focus on the nighttime atmospheres of Kinshasa – filled with energy and everything from the equipment to the sound system pushed to their limit. With amps smoking, wires melting, and the crowd losing it. It’s a huge truck coming forward at you..this is the new KOKOKO! sound. Represented on stage and on record by the duo of Makara Bianko and Débruit. A wind of change continues to blow over the cultural landscape of Kinshasa. The wind has landed here in the west and is now fermenting and morphing into a spectacular cauldron of sound and performance. An amazing alternative scene has now been exported from DRC, and it is morphing… It is explosive and vibrant. The band was born in Kinshasa when Makara Bianko, Débruit and a group of musicians from the Ngwaka neighbourhood met. They rehearsed and recorded together in a self-made studio made of material gathered around. After one month of playing and creating new sounds, they improvised a block party on a building site of the Kato street ghetto that would be the 1st performance of KOKOKO! And would define the collective that also includes art performers and dancers. Supported by Pitchfork, TIME, i-D, BBC6, Afropunk and featured at TED’s TEDGlobal 2017 conference or Resident Advisor’s live videos, KOKOKO! is the DIY collective pioneering an inspiring alternative scene from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their introductory video amassed over 2 million viewsacross various platforms, and their hypnotic debut EP, TOKOLIANA, found favour in Resident Advisor, Bandcamp Daily, and BBC Radio 1.with local support from YAWA (aka Amenta Abioto)!

Lewis OfMan w/ Julia Logue, Vickie Cherie, DJ Drew Cornwall – 21+

“Beware of nightlife vampires though, they will take you to a corner and enter in your mind by making you feel like your life is a mistake. If you see one, just run away or kiss your lover on the neck.” Night-time is often an adventure. At twilight, tongues loosen, the tempo speeds up and the volume of the speakers increases. From the hit “Attitude” to the single “Boom Boom”, Lewis OfMan welcomes us into his sonic world. The songs that play there are nocturnal poems, assembled in his very first album, the aptly named Sonic Poems. From his first compositions at 11 years old on Garageband, to the well-received Yo Bene (2017) and Dancy Party (2021), Lewis OfMan has always prominently featured music that resounds in the distance when the sun is only just starting to sink. With Sonic Poems, the Parisian producer takes a step deeper into the heart of the night. “Let’s get drunk and keep it light” proclaims the song “Misbehave”, which invites us to raise our glass to the mistakes we make when we’ve had too much to drink, to the encounters we make at club exits (“Love Parade”), and to the messages sent in altered states (“Too Much Text”). An unsurprising tribute, given the way in which encounters shaped Lewis OfMan’s journey in music. It all started with a remix project, which turned into an original song for Vendredi Sur Mer (“La femme à la peau bleue”). A surreal session in a bedroom with rapper Rejjie Snow followed, then openings with Yelle and productions for The Pirouettes and Fakear. It is no surprise, then, that to finalize his first album, Lewis Ofman, born Delhomme, visited Tim Goldsworthy and Bruno Ellingham (Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture) in England. However, although the disc is permeated with an anglophone touch, starting with the texts, which are practically all in English, it is not exempt from other scattered influences, inspired by OfMan’s travels. First with a trip to a fantasized Barcelona, contemplated from the Montjuïc hill (“Las Bañitas”), then with Tuscany (“Sorry Not Sorry”) before returning to Paris with softer love songs sung in French, like a nod to the songs that got Ofman known (“Regarde moi”). Songs constructed like poems, rollercoasters, or perhaps both.with local support from Julia Logue and DJ Drew Cornwall, and touring support from Vickie Cherie!

Mama Sam and the Jam (single release party!), Vonnie Kyle, Fawkes Glove – 21+

Portland based, Sparkly Psych Pop band, Mama Sam & The Jam lifts vibrations and gives goosebumps. Like Mazzy Star meets Fleetwood Mac, catchy melodies and powerful harmonies over trippy guitar and groovy beats leaves listeners feeling high on vibes. The group’s fresh, intense synergy makes Mama Sam & The Jam fun to watch as they tug at your heartstrings and make you move!Vonnie Kyle is a singer-songwriter based in Portland, Oregon. Her music has been described as “A masterful blend of indie rock and folk-tinged storytelling.”1 Kyle’s songs are upbeat, poignant, and exude a 90s pop-rock sensibility. In the studio and on stage, Kyle is an energetic and fearless performer. Since 2013, Kyle has released four EPs, but in 2022 she released her first full-length album, Imperfect Parts. Its traditional rock band lineup is complemented by lush strings, punchy horns, and intricate vocal harmonies. Thematically, Imperfect Parts explores existential loneliness, longing, and loss, but it’s ultimately a story of self-acceptance. The earliest incarnation of Fawkes Glove was created in 2019 as a side project inspired by the raw delta blues and garage rock sounds of bands like The Strokes, The Black Keys, and the White Stripes. Finding the right members and fighting through a global pandemic put a halt on the project for some time. At the very end of 2022, after the final line up had been set in stone and their sound forged in the fires of the Portland live music scene, Fawkes Glove descended into the basement of a friend’s house to record How it Feels. A 7 track EP that finally captured exactly what the band had envisioned for their sound. Now, armed with the debut EP, Fawkes Glove has set out to conquer the local music scene and make their way steadily outward into the ears of anyone who appreciates music with a little grit and a lot of heart.
