Believe You Me 9 Year Anniversary Party! w/ Ash Lauryn (Detroit), Andy Warren & Ginkgo – 21+

Ash Lauryn balances between two worlds, with an old-school house-head foundation and a digital age suaveness, blending her skills as a deejay, writer, curator, and radio host to champion black dance music. Discovering her passion for music in her native Detroit, she was inspired to start deejaying in her current residence Atlanta, taking inspiration from the legendary Kai Alce of NDATL and Vicki Powell. After noticing a lack of representation for Black millennials in electronic music, Ash started her blog Underground and Black, which has since grown into a wide-ranging platform covering her annual Movement Festival party, monthly NTS show, and podcast of the same name. Her passion for music has led her across the globe, from her past residencies in Atlanta, Expressions, and Deep South, to gigs at Nowadays in New York, Panorama Bar Berlin, and Printworks London. She’s played with musicians such as Joe Claussell and Moodymann and at renowned festivals like Afropunk, Dimensions, and Flow Festival Helsinki. Her writing has appeared in The Face Magazine, Mixmag, and Resident Advisor, and she recently served as Guest Editor for Beatport’s online magazine Beatportal. She has also interviewed electronic music legends Robert Hood and Honey Dijon and recently curated a line-up for Boiler Room Festival New York that included the likes of Ron Trent and Analog Soul. Lately, Ash was nominated for DJ of the Year at the Bembe DJ Awards and participated in Off-White’s SS21 “Imaginary TV” platform. She is currently working on music production and recently released her debut solo EP titled Truth, in September 2021. You can follow her at @ash_lauryn_ on Instagram and Twitter.Support from Believe You Me residents Andy Warren & Ginkgo, celebrating 9 years of Believe You Me parties!

Brickbat Mansion and Holocene present: We Are Parasols (album release show!) w/ Darkswoon & DJ Wednesday- 21+

On Body Horror, We Are Parasols meld new-wave synths, thundering industrial percussion, and a sly sense of humor into an eminently engaging slab of static-drenched noise pop. Breathy, sneer-sung vocals wind through a sonic landscape of cracking static and the hiss of rotting electronics. Rumbling sub-bass and chainsaw leads strut and swagger over a foundation of dark pop melody. The brutally beautiful chaos of Body Horror, the sonic contradictions and extremes, are as deeply expressive as the tales the lyrics tell.   While early releases from the band drew primary from indie-electro, shoegaze, and post-rock, We Are Parasols has no allegiance to genre. While their prior work had been conceptual, the isolation brought about by the pandemic resulted in a looking inward. Leaning into this reinvention, the band chose to stop using anything remotely like shoegaze guitar, seeking to balance the industrial core of the songs with something more inviting and human. Body Horror represent an important evolution in the work of We Are Parasols. Underpinning the deep bass, industrial beats, and pop vocal melodies are deeply personal vignettes that speak to the universal experience of being human.  Bandcamp WebsiteDarkswoon is a Portland-based trio that has carved out a unique blend of genres. Drawing from elemental post-punk roots, their music is imbued with goth-tinged atmospheric guitars and ethereal vocals, bordering on dream pop. Layers of beats, haunting synth, and melodically driven bass add a modern edge, while still paying homage to old-school goth. The emotionally charged and potent sound of Darkswoon was founded by composer Jana Cushman (vocals, guitar) in 2014 as a solo project, and later completed with the addition of Rachel Ellis (beats, synths) and Norah Lynn (bass) in 2017. Their sophomore release, ‘Bloom Decay’ (2022, Icy Cold Records), represents an evolution of Darkswoon’s sound, emerging after the challenges of a global pandemic with a body of work that has been praised by some as one of the best albums of 2022 (Stereo Embers’, Last Rites’). Bandcamp Website Originally based in Los Angeles, DJ Wednesday was a staple in the LA scene for well over a decade. Her radio show Generation Death was touted as the longest-running goth radio show, with 14 years of history. In the clubs, Wednesday’s diverse style was instrumental in the growth of the LA Shoegaze and Post-punk scene through her co-creation of Violaine. Upon relocating to Portland in late 2008 Wednesday started her own ever-evolving concept night, Brickbat Mansion. Musically her DJ style includes a heavy dose of Goth, Ethereal, Shoegaze, Dark 80’s, Dark Wave and Post-Punk. Helens, Tremor, Centre Detente – 21+

WE ARE SAD TO ANNOUNCE THAT TEN MILLION LIGHTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM ON TONIGHT’S BILL DUE TO INJURY. THE SHOW WILL HOWEVER GO ON, WITH A GREAT NIGHT OF MUSIC FROM HELENS, TREMOR AND CENTRE DETENTE.Helens is a Shoegaze / Dream Pop quartet based out of Portland, Oregon. After several years and EPs they have released a new album of melancholic anthems to soundtrack an escape to anywhere else but here. The new album, Somewhere In Nowhere, was recorded in 2020 by Corey Coffman (Gleemer) and was released on November 18th, 2022. with help from Portland all-star label, Bud Tapes. Somewhere In Nowhere infuses the band’s unique Shoegaze/Post-Rock/Alternative mixture with lusher melodies and more Dream Pop sensibility than previous output. The recent expansion of the lineup to a four piece with added guitar textures has also widened the band’s scope which carries the listener from wistful wash to searing sonics.Formed in 2018, Tremor is a Portland-based act that combines elements from various genres of music, ranging from psychedelia to shoegaze, jazz, acid folk, and art rock. The band consists of Teppei Fukuda (vocals, guitar, and keys), Bobby Lukas (drums and percussion), Felipe Ferreira (guitar, keys, modular synthesizer), Rae Warden (vocals and keys), and Jett Kauffman (bass guitar). Although the band is based in portland Oregon, the band was initiated by Teppei, who is from Japan, and Felipe, who grew up in Brazil. With deep roots in poetry and literature, Tremor aims to create a sense of dreaminess and seismic soundscapes through their music and lyrics.Ten Million Lights are the juxtaposition of beauty and noise.  Existing to fulfill their need to get loud and a craving of catharsis, they create epic psychedelic soundscapes combining heavy guitars and rhythms with beautiful melodies and harmonies.  This “noisy dream-pop and psych-tinged shoegaze,“ as The Portland Mercury calls it, is exemplified with their latest release, Shine So Bright. Centre Detente  is Modular synthesizer-centered electronic music from Portland, Oregon.

Werm Hole presents: TDJ – w/ DJ Lexie b2b Plus, Mauve Decade Β – 21+

TDJ (Terrain de Jeux), Geneviève’s second musical endeavor, is born from her affiance to the nightlife – navigating between the raves and clubs of Montreal while transgressing to adult independence. When releasing her first album as RYAN Playground ’16/17′ in 2018, Geneviève felt the need to deepen her interest in dance music and get to grips with her need for musical diversity. Similar to how she shapes RYAN Playground’s music around early Pop/Punk childhood memories, Geneviève seeks TDJ’s inspiration from her youngest memories of Electronic dance music, expressed as a modern reinterpretation of classic Trance patterns and sonorities. The foundation of Geneviève’s music resides in the quest of freedom. Traveling fluently from RYAN Playground’s intimacy to the uplifting fast pace bass-driven sound she makes under her new alter ego TDJ, Genevieve has reached a new milestone where she feels at peace with her diversity and competing attractions of sound expression.with local support from:DJ Lexie b2b PlusMauve Decade
