Mama Sam and the Jam (single release party!), Vonnie Kyle, Fawkes Glove – 21+

Portland based, Sparkly Psych Pop band, Mama Sam & The Jam lifts vibrations and gives goosebumps. Like Mazzy Star meets Fleetwood Mac, catchy melodies and powerful harmonies over trippy guitar and groovy beats leaves listeners feeling high on vibes. The group’s fresh, intense synergy makes Mama Sam & The Jam fun to watch as they tug at your heartstrings and make you move!Vonnie Kyle is a singer-songwriter based in Portland, Oregon. Her music has been described as “A masterful blend of indie rock and folk-tinged storytelling.”1 Kyle’s songs are upbeat, poignant, and exude a 90s pop-rock sensibility. In the studio and on stage, Kyle is an energetic and fearless performer. Since 2013, Kyle has released four EPs, but in 2022 she released her first full-length album, Imperfect Parts. Its traditional rock band lineup is complemented by lush strings, punchy horns, and intricate vocal harmonies. Thematically, Imperfect Parts explores existential loneliness, longing, and loss, but it’s ultimately a story of self-acceptance.  The earliest incarnation of Fawkes Glove was created in 2019 as a side project inspired by the raw delta blues and garage rock sounds of bands like The Strokes, The Black Keys, and the White Stripes. Finding the right members and fighting through a global pandemic put a halt on the project for some time. At the very end of 2022, after the final line up had been set in stone and their sound forged in the fires of the Portland live music scene, Fawkes Glove descended into the basement of a friend’s house to record How it Feels. A 7 track EP that finally captured exactly what the band had envisioned for their sound. Now, armed with the debut EP, Fawkes Glove has set out to conquer the local music scene and make their way steadily outward into the ears of anyone who appreciates music with a little grit and a lot of heart.

North Star Boys – All Ages

North Star Boys (NSB) is a leading Asian-American creator group and pop band, founded in August 2021 by brothers Oliver Moy, and Sebastian Moy. Lacking Asian-American representation in the media growing up, NSB yearns to fill that void and inspire the younger generation of minorities and dreamers. Amassing over 55 million followers combined on social media platforms, NSB has cultivated a loyal audience. Their Fall 2022 tour is proof positive as they brought together thousands of fans, coined “Stars”, in North America and Asia.   NSB is kicking off a U.S. headline tour in March 2023 and will be debuting new music from their upcoming EP “PANIC”, featuring “Cold War”, co-produced by multi-platinum songwriters and musicians, Tim Pagnotta and Brian Phillips. The band has been hard at work honing their songwriting skills and fine-tuning their on-stage performances. The group is currently in collaboration with an array of producers and songwriters and plans to drop multiple EPs in 2023. Along with thriving in social media and music, NSB has accumulated over 20 million monthly views on their syndicated Snapchat shows and plans to release 4 additional shows on the platform this year. Through their strong ties with the community and emphasis on culture, NSB will continue to expand their reach across various verticals by advancing their ongoing relationships with major fashion and lifestyle brands such as Calvin Klein, American Eagle, and BoohooMAN.

Blue Cranes, Night Brunch, Patrick McCulley – 21+

Blue Cranes:  Portland jazz ensemble Blue Cranes has long established itself as a forward-thinking entity. The quintet, made up of Reed Wallsmith on alto saxophone, Joe Cunningham on tenor saxophone, Rebecca Sanborn on keyboards, Jon Shaw on bass, and Ji Tanzer on drums, is steeped in the history and sound of the artists that came before them, but too curious and creative to simply replicate the past.  Since their formation in 2007, the band has become a key player in the Portland, Oregon creative music/DIY scene and one of the most exciting groups to keep tabs on in the Northwest. They’ve developed a singular musical voice grounded in melody and explosive improvisations–marking off their unique microcosmic territory in post-jazz circles. https://bluecranes.bandcamp.com/music   Night Brunch: Night Brunch delivers piercing lyrics in dense vocal harmony over jangular guitar and timeless groovemath. New project of local stalwarts A. Walker Spring (Bitch’n, Point Juncture, WA), Sarah Fennell (Lost Lander), Pony, and Danny Aley.   Patrick McCulley: Patrick McCulley is a Portland based saxophonist, educator, composer, and creator that seeks to transform the saxophone from a purely melodic instrument into an undefinable and unstoppable force of nature.  McCulley’s solo compositions sculpt the saxophone’s sound into transcendent metaphors for emotions not often expressed in music: the inescapable vagaries of change, the ecstatic joy of flight, and the yearning search for renewal amidst destruction. His music utilizes an array of extended techniques to defy conventional musical idioms in favor of raw, provocative, honest, and unusual sounds without abandoning the listener to the chaos of pure noise. https://patrickmcculley.bandcamp.com/
