Visible Cloaks, (arsonist), DJ set by The Garbage Man – 21+

More details at holocene.org/vaccine Visible Cloaks is Spencer Doran and Ryan Carlile, two musicians based in the Pacific Northwest of the United States working in the space between composition and sound design, arrangement and environment, place and non-place. Their music has taken many forms: site-specific multi-channel pieces, live A/V performances, compositions for aleatoric chamber ensembles, albums, EPs, film scores, VGM composing, corporate sound design, collaborations with musicians like Miyako Koda, Motion Graphics, Seungmin Cha, Yoshio Ojima and Satsuki Shibano, and music for installations by artists like Brenna Murphy, Mike Tyka and Nile Koetting. Both live and in the studio, their work focuses on the artifice of digital representation, utopian flashes seen in cultural exchange, the cartography of virtual worlds and the extension of abandoned vectors of futurism into the present.{arsonist} is the solo project of Portland based composer and producer Danielle Rager. Collaging raucous, algorithmically sequenced electronics, manipulated vocals, and her mother-tongue of lush orchestral arrangements, {arsonist} kindles a unique symphonic form of computer music that The Wire magazine praised as “digital soundscapes that step into the fantastical”. Her live sets bridge multiple A/V frameworks including the live-coding musical language TidalCycles, Ableton Live, and reactive visual platforms OpenFrameworks and GLSL. {arsonist} released her acclaimed full-length debut Reality Structure on Unifactor Tapes in 2020, which explored the mystique common to the symbolic languages of dreams and mathematics. More recent tracks have been featured in collections from Renraku, Genot Centre, and PC Music. The Garbage Man is the DJ alias of Liz Harris (Grouper).
Leven Kali, Scooty – 21+
Born in the Netherlands and raised in Santa Monica, it doesn’t take more than one song to feel the soul and love deeply embedded in Leven Kali’s inspirational sound. His soothing voice and signature background harmonies have been making waves since his first independent single release “Joy” in 2017. Leven introduced himself to the music industry through a string of incredible collaborations and solo singles that year. Not bound by genre or style, he contributed to and was featured on projects such as Snoh Aalegra (Feels 2017), Playboi Carti (Self-Titled), Skrillex (HOWSLA), and Drake (More Life). Staying true to his roots, he remains surrounded by his hometown friends and family, crafting his unique and heartfelt sound with the people that he loves. Leven signed with Interscope in the winter of 2017. In January 2018 he released his first single “Do U Wrong (feat. Syd)”. Critically acclaimed and culturally adored, the track amassed over 50 million global streams and served as the leading single for his debut project “LOWTIDE” in 2019. “LOWTIDE”, in conjunction with the forthcoming “HIGHTIDE” serves as a two-part project which reflects on Leven’s life in the past two to three years, precisely on the time period immediately after his signing. The highly anticipated “HIGHTIDE” was released on May 1st, 2020. Produced and written by Kali, with the help of his band mates from The Moon, it was a development on the energy of “LOWTIDE”, another chapter in the story of Leven Kali, and features from Ty Dolla $ign and Syd from the Internet.In 2021 Leven became an independent artist, something he had always wanted to do. He spent much of his time that year writing and producing for other artists including Tinashe, Jazmine Sullivan, Yuna, Super Duper Kyle, and LoLo Zouai, to name a few. He also produced and wrote on 4 songs on Beyonce’s latest album, “RENAISSANCE”, including “Virgo’s Groove”, “Alien Superstar”, “Plastic off the Sofa”, and “Summer Renaissance”. In 2022, he signed to Independent Co. as his label and began releasing music again. His new EP “Let It Rain” drops in October before he heads out on his first headlining US tour.If you’ve been looking for a new R&B artist to stan, search no further — Scooty has arrived. Born and raised in Houston and now residing in Portland, OR., Scooty has quietly been hopping on people’s radar through a few independent releases and shows in the bubbling PDX music scene. Hyd – CLEARING Tour – w/ umru – Presented by Holocene and Werm Hole – 21+
“All it takes is a flame.” Hyd aka Hayden Dunham unveils their debut LP CLEARING, an album of dynamic, seductive and texturally-rich pop songs that signals a new dialogue of destruction and renewal. CLEARING captures the confluence of agency and surrender. Arranged cyclically over 11 tracks (released on 11/11), Hyd carries us through their elemental states of being: Fire (destruction), Ash (rebuilding), Garden (germination) and Air (emergence). In harnessing elements sonically, visually and conceptually, Hyd builds out a sensory world for their audience to hear, see, feel and breathe in. Hyd’s unique approach to songwriting results in material that is emotionally rich in texture, while their acute ability to control the temperature of a song makes the music multidimensional. Hyd has also built and led a community of aurally aligned creative partners, whose presence is felt throughout CLEARING. Drawing in such friends and artists as SOPHIE and A. G. Cook (Hyd’s co-creators of trans-dimensional project QT), as well as Caroline Polachek, Nomak, Danny L Harle, Jonsi and EASYFUN, they created CLEARING between Los Angeles, London, New York and a series of volcanic islands. Informed by Hyd’s wider artistic practice, Hyd’s music is the result of interior research, community dialogues, and material exploration designed to create an immense new ecosystem for their dedicated audience to be immersed in. CLEARING follows Hyd’s self-titled debut EP, released in 2021 to critical acclaim, and a host of global live shows. Throughout the album, Hyd explores untouched levels of vulnerability – dismantling interior structures and letting the frame fracture to spur a cyclical, sonic, visual and sensory evolution. As materials molt into new states of being, so does Hyd. Hyd’s music breaks free of ruptured systems and expands beyond what is physically present or possible, and in doing so, invites the listener to join them on a journey of inward investigation and a reckoning of their own. For this, Hyd is a catalyst, and CLEARING is the strike of the match that beckons the flame. Brooklyn-based Estonian-American producer umru emerged into the pop music zeitgeist with his first credit on Charli XCX’s seminal 2017 mixtape Pop 2, recruited at 18 by A. G. Cook to co-produce the highlight track ‘I Got It’. This quickly brought umru from high school and online music circles to performing worldwide and collaborating with some of pop’s most forward-thinking acts. The release of his debut EP search result on Cook’s PC Music label revealed his strength in merging intense, bass-heavy sound design with earworm melodies from a lineup of the internet’s most influential vocal talent including Lewis Grant & Laura Les (of 100 gecs). umru’s work has gone on to excel in and help define the emerging space right between underground & pop, from his star-studded 7-minute ‘movinglikeazombie (remix)’ with ericdoa (named one of the best tracks of 2020 by NPR) to production for Yung Kayo, Caroline Polachek, Tommy Cash, or Fraxiom, to scoring for art pieces by Hayden Dunham at Times Square Space & MoMA PS1, to his ‘sound cache’ sample pack series that has become a staple among modern producers.

Creative Music Guild’s Improvisation Summit of Portland: and/or you Ensemble, meroitic, Machado Mijiga & Lorin Benedict – 21+

More details at holocene.org/vaccineAndrew Jones is a multifarious bassist, composer and songwriter who has recorded with folk and pop songwriters and modern jazz instrumentalists, performed with live hiphop and electronic bands and accompanied visiting experimentalists and theater productions via the Improvisation Summit of Portland and Time Based Art Festivals. Outside of town, Jones has had recurring work with artists from New York and Los Angeles- most recently a fourteen-month international touring stint with acclaimed songwriter/composer Julia Holter. However, among his closest musical compatriots he’s known mostly for his sometimes elusive solo-turned duo project The Crenshaw, whose full-length album features Jones singing poetic and sometimes tongue-in-cheek lyrics atop off kilter beats, warped synth samples and his own upright bass ostinatos. For his forthcoming record, Andrew is renaming that project ‘and/or you.’ Portland’s Creative Music Guild has invited him to assemble an ensemble to bring his singular brand of dense and mysterious art pop to life for the 2022 Improvisation Summit of Portland, which will feature:: Mike Lockwood (Drums) and Max Kutner (NYC) (Guitar). meroitic is a sound & movement based project of black interdisciplinary artist & composer jamondria harris. Their work uses words, sounds, wires, instruments, textiles & what falls into their hands to engage with blackness, desire, spirit/source,narratology/folklore, & ontologies of liberation over& through sex, gender & embodiment. Classically-trained, jazz-weathered, and eclectically inclined, Machado Mijiga left the proverbial creative “box” at a very early age, with access to many instruments and a diverse musical background brought about by an intercultural heritage.Mijiga is a musical polymath; composer, producer, bandleader, educator, gear fanatic, and audio engineer, to name a few. Lorin Benedict is an improvising vocalist (scat singer, essentially) who works in the areas of jazz and related music. He co-leads several small groups dedicated to playing highly structured music in a manifestly loose and playful way. Creative Music Guild is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote experimental, improvised music by presenting concerts, workshops & other events that bring together internationally recognized musicians with local performers, audiences & music students of all ages. Harbour & Wingtip – All Ages – w/ Lisa Heller
Since their formation in 2014, HARBOUR has gone from packing rooms in their native Cincinnati to selling out venues across the United States. With two tours already under their belt in 2022, and more cross-country shows on the way, the band has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. Members Ryan Green (vocals/guitar), Jarett Lewis (guitar), Ryan Sulken (drums), Walker Atkinson (bass), and Devon Turner (guitar) have curated an infectious indie pop/rock sound that transfers seamlessly into their live shows. During their tenure as a group, HARBOUR has delivered an EP, three full length albums, and 6 singles – the latest being “Bahamas”, the first work off of their upcoming album, poised for release in early 2023. The accompanying music video perfectly embodies the playful energy the band brings to all their performances – each of which begin with an enthusiastic shout to the crowd: “Let’s have some fun!” Nick Perloff-Giles, often known by his artist moniker Wingtip but increasingly by his birth name as a successful songwriter for hire, has lived numerous musical lives. It comes almost as a surprise that, following a slew of singles and an EP which were mile-markers on his twisting climb, All Your Friends Are Here is Wingtip’s debut full-length album. it is a pearl in today’s convenience store of musical shells, a distinctive statement of the artist’s evolving personality that also shows off the pop craftsmanship required to master the system.

We’ll have a diverse array of live bands playing cover songs from the show’s soundtrack, plus goth bangers all night by DJ Colin Jones (of SNAP! ‘90s vs ’00s Dance Party).
