Nova Twins: Supernova US Tour – NOW ALL AGES! – w/ Gully Boys

PLEASE NOTE: For the safety of our customers, we will be requiring proof of full COVID vaccination (or negative rapid COVID test), to enter the venue until further notice. More details at holocene.org/vaccine Nova Twins are the zeitgeist-capturing polymath pioneers that our times have been waiting for. Whether pushing the MOBO Awards to create a category for POC alt. acts, to teaming up with No Music On A Dead Planet and Oxfam to play for environmental change, working with Dr. Martens to raise money for The Black Curriculum or aiming to inspire a new wave of young, diverse talent, Amy Love and Georgia South are much more than one of the UK’s most exciting bands – they are changemakers. Formed in London in 2014, the two childhood friends came together to create something that destroyed boundaries and defied expectations. A clash of ideas from the worlds of punk, rap, pop, hard rock and beyond, their sound is one that smashes genres but showcases the many facets of the duo and where they’re from. “Some of our favourite music is ‘00s R&B and hip-hop” says Love. “That guided us when we were younger and gave us some kind of stability. Then we wanted to venture out and were met with people saying, ‘you don’t belong here’.” They have battled through the old guard of rock’s narrow-minded expectations. Their debut album ‘Who Are The Girls?’ planted their flag as outliers on a mission, when it dropped in 2020 to much critical acclaim. Name another act that could support Bring Me The Horizon and Wolf Alice but also Enter Shikari and Sleaford Mods? One of the UK’s premiere live bands and fiercest festival acts reach a very broad church, without diluting what they’re all about. Rage Against The Machine icon Tom Morello dubbed them “an incredible band who deserve to be huge” as well as inviting them on tour with Prophets Of Rage. Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes called them one of his “favourite new bands” before having them collaborate on song ‘1×1’ from 2020’s UK No.1 album ‘POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR’. Furthermore, they’ve already scored the “bucket list” moment of appearing on the cover of NME, as “the band rewriting the rules of alternative music”. It’s true, rules are not in Nova Twins’ vocabulary, so don’t think about forcing them upon them. You won’t be surprised that their fighting spirit is ingrained in their upcoming second album ‘Supernova’. The record, co-produced predominantly with Jim Abbiss, who worked on their first album, was showcased by the brutal and unforgiving blast of cyberpunk on launch single ‘Antagonist’. Named on BBC Radio 1 by Clara Amfo’ as ‘Hottest Record In The World’ and added to the station’s playlist as “Future Artists”, this was the first track that Nova Twins created together after reuniting post-lockdown, and one that South describes as “the sound of both of our energies coming together.” There’s no band out there quite like Nova Twins. If more artists blazed a trail like this, we’d be celebrating a lot more difference, rather than craving what’s safe and similar. From being “shunned” when they arrived on the scene, now Nova Twins are leading a game all of their own. Now, there are no rules.
Mr Twin Sister, Bamenda- 21+

PLEASE NOTE: For the safety of our customers, we will be requiring proof of full COVID vaccination (or negative rapid COVID test), to enter the venue until further notice. More details at holocene.org/vaccine Mr Twin Sister formed in 2008 under the name Twin Sister, quickly garnering critical attention from the dense homemade pop of their early EPs – Vampires with Dreaming Kids in 2008 and Color Your Life in 2010. They have been a quietly influential fixture of independent music ever since. The group released their debut LP In Heaven (2011) via Domino, and in 2012 their song Meet the Frownies was sampled by Kendrick Lamar and Dr Dre on The Recipe. Having left Domino and changed their name to Mr Twin Sister, the group re-emerged in 2014 with the low lit disco and funk of their self-titled Mr Twin Sister. The record appeared on best-of-year lists from Pitchfork, Gorilla vs Bear, TIME, and many others. In 2018 the group released Echo Arms, their most popular track to date, and Salt, their third and most diverse album yet. 2021 saw the release of the group’s fourth full length LP Al Mundo Azul, a vibrant, surreal record that swaps the group’s restrained cool for something wide awake and grinning. Mr Twin Sister has made a habit of swerving the expectations of their devoted following and critical outlets alike, recombining musical styles and dodging easy categorization as a matter of course.Bamenda is the artist name and project of musician and producer Dema Paxton Fofang. His music has been described as “emotional moisturizer.” His next EP, produced by Andrew Lappin (L’Rain, Vagabon) is due for release later this year. Bamenda has spent years honing the quality of his songs and looks forward to increasing their quantity.
POSTPONED: Peach Tree Rascals: Does a Fish Know It’s Wet Tour – All Ages – w/ SEB

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED BY THE ARTIST. WE HOPE TO RESCHEDULE FOR EARLY NEXT YEAR. ALL TICKETS PURCHASED WILL BE HONORED FOR THE NEW DATE. STAY TUNED! Peach Tree Rascals are a collective, dedicated to collaboration and community. They are a brotherhood, coming together to be more than the sum of their parts. Comprised of producer/mixer Dominic “Dom” Pizano,rappers-singers Issac Pech, Tarrek Abdel-Khaliq, Joseph Barros, and creative director Jorge Olazaba, the group started as a teenage “do-it-yourself” attempt at music, based out of a shed in San Jose, California. With most of the members being second generation Americans (the sons of Palestinian, Filipino, and Mexican immigrants), they quickly realized a deep, natural connection with one another, and grew into a single, harmonious unit. As the band grew, they added Jasper Barros, the mastermind behind some of the guitar tracks on their biggest hits and EJ Atienza, Jorge’s right-hand man assisting him with all things creative. 16 songs and a debut EP later, the group has accumulated over 300M streamsand have received certified gold for their track, “Mariposa,”which also reached #1 on the Alternative Radio Chart. The Peach Tree Rascals have stayed true to the DIY mentality they had when they first started working together. As Issac puts it, “The future of PTR depends on what we wish to accomplish. It’s totally in our hands and work ethic, but we know we want to be as big as possible.” Signed to 10k/Homemade Projects, the Rascals are poised to ascend to even greater heights and are gearing up for some highly anticipated new music and live shows this year.
Dreamgirl, CD Ghost – 21+

PLEASE NOTE: For the safety of our customers, we will be requiring proof of full COVID vaccination (or negative rapid COVID test), to enter the venue until further notice. More details at holocene.org/vaccine DREAMGIRL:Back in 2008, after getting kicked out of college (where they majored in marimba performance), vocalist & multi-instrumentalist Lacey Hopkins met vocalist & multi-instrumentalist, Skylar Smith, at a Friendsgiving party gone wrong. The two bonded over screamo and French electropop, and went on to play together in various bands until forming Dreamgirl in early 2013. Dreamgirl’s first EP, “Sensually Yours,” was released, quietly, on Bandcamp the next year, and, with the addition of a few tracks, would transform into the group’s breakout offering, 2015’s the “Illuminaughty” EP (also released quietly). Drummer/engineer Ian Dobyns joined in 2016; a friend and schoolmate of a former member, the band nabbed him from the post-hardcore scene. In 2017, an unknown teen from Belgium uploaded the band’s discography to YouTube, catapulting “Teenage Blue” into the realm of existence. With a new zest for life following the sleeper success of their hit song, the band began performing across the continental United States, playing shows with TV Girl, Homeshake, Tennis, Bleached, Surfer Blood, HUNNY, K. Flay, Girlpool, Gus Dapperton, BRONCHO, Sports, Mild High Club and Shy Boys. (They were slated to open for Aaron Carter once, but the show was canceled due to political differences.) 2019 saw them interviewed by Nylon, headlining a couple of their own tours and playing their first festival, Tropicalia. End scene. The year is now 2021. You might hear Dreamgirl on the radio in a college town. Bassist, formerly of Lawrence band Toughies, Joe Gronniger has joined and Dreamgirl continues to please with their latest single, “Sometimes.” Following “Sometimes” is the band’s next single, “Poolside,” and they are preparing for two tours and a full-length release in spring and fall of 2022, respectively.CD GHOST: Cody Han and Blake Dimas produce a danceable brand of surrealist dream pop under the name CD Ghost. The pair have journeyed from the lo-fi glaze of their debut EP “Ghost Hunting” to the richly ethereal dream bops of subsequent EPs “Here It Comes Again” and “Dreams We Share”, with tracks such as “Undercurrent” and “Roll the Dice” earning them attention online. Now the group joins Born Losers Records for their first LP-length project, “Night Music”. The project sees the duo expand their watercolor dream pop palette toward the edges and intersections of dark wave, avant-pop, and shoegaze. Written during a pandemic while the duo was split between L.A. and Beijing, the project reflects on solitude, change, and the passage of time. Like their previous work, the LP is full of hook-laden, beat-driven lamentations that find a way to stick in your ears and make their home. This time however, the tracklist contains both the group’s darkest and catchiest songs to date. The LP was conceived as an ode to night, inspired by the musical tradition of nocturnes – songs written about or for the night. Experiencing the LP is akin to quietly sitting through the night, observing its changes and watching the rise of the moon as cool air begins to surround. “Night Music” is out 11/11/22 on Born Losers Records.
