Arden Jones – Early Show! – ALL AGES – w/ Pardyalone
21-year-old Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Arden Jones captures unforgettable, serotonin-filled California summers into a perfect blend of pop, hip-hop, and alt that, while familiar, is undeniably his own. His clever rhymes and witty lyricism paint heartfelt, relatable sentiments that beautifully juxtapose his infectious hooks and euphoric, nostalgia-inspired beats. From a young age, Arden’s love of skating and surfing came second only to his love of music, successfully teaching himself to play an array of instruments including upright bass, mandolin, guitar, piano, and ukelele. His musical household introduced him to legends like The Avett Brothers, Bright Eyes, and 50 Cent, but it wasn’t long before he began forging his own musical identity inspired by J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Mac Miller. A prolific user of Garageband and SoundCloud, Arden posted his internet-beat smash “Parallel Parking” on TikTok at the end of 2020 where it caught the attention of newly minted label, vnclm_, and eventually into the hearts of 14 million Spotify listeners. Since the song’s release, Arden continues to pave his own way into the music world. Following a series of hit singles (including rollercoaster, SMILE, either way) and performances to screaming fans across the country, Arden was determined to reward his die-hard fanbase in 2022, dropping a new three-song EP at the beginning of every month to immense critical acclaim. With millions of streams independently and an unrelenting work ethic, Arden Jones proves that he really is “just trying to make you smile.”with support from Pardyalone!
Daisy the Great: All You Need Is Time Tour – Early Show! – ALL AGES – w/ Olive Klug
As Daisy the Great, Kelley Nicole Dugan and Mina Walker make folk-inflected indie rock that spans a multitude of moods—capable of being clever, devastating, or both simultaneously, spanning harmony-laden folk pop to powerhouse indie rock balladry—and has attracted quite the following as a result. The pair first met as acting majors at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where they began co-writing a musical about a fictional band before realizing they could make it happen in real life. Once they formed their new collaborative & creative bond, the pair set out as Daisy the Great, eventually growing into a 6 piece rock outfit currently featuring Matt Lau on guitar, Bernardo Ochoa on bass, Matti Dunietz on drums, and Brie Archer on additional vocals. They recorded a Tiny Desk Concert submission of “The Record Player Song” in 2017, the same year the single was officially released. It’s since racked up over 20 million streams and had multiple viral moments on TikTok. Daisy the Great’s debut LP I’m Not Getting Any Taller soon followed in 2019 on Paper Moon Records, a full-length exploration of the anxieties of entering adulthood that also marked the first time Kelley and Mina fully collaborated on an entire release together. Since then, Daisy the Great released the quarantine-born Soft Songs EP in 2020, as well as the recent “Persephone” / “Scarborough Fair” single, a two-tracker released on San Fermin member Alan Tate’s record label that features the pair’s take on the classic Simon & Garfunkel tune. Then there’s the summer 2021 collaboration with AJR, “Record Player,” which originated after the band expressed admiration for Daisy the Great’s infectious tune: “Jack heard ‘The Record Player Song’ on TikTok and reached out to us about collaborating on it,” Kelley recalls. “We teamed up and went into the studio to write some new verses with AJR to pair with our original hook, and we ended up creating this new song together.” After a full summer of shows and festivals, including Lollapalooza and Firefly, Daisy the Great put out their sophomore album All You Need is Time in the fall of 2022. According to the band, “the record is about self-perception, love, growing up, patience, purpose, change.” Recorded in Brooklyn by rising producer/engineer Torna, with additional production from Gabe Goodman, the new record ”captures the dichotomy of feeling time slipping through your fingers while you’re waiting for your life to start.” It’s a freeing thoughtfulness that defines Daisy the Great’s music, as well as their creative mission. “Our music is generally pretty introspective, and we are often interested in the complexities or ironies we see within ourselves” she states. “That’s something we love about writing—you can say something small and delicate and true that maybe feels scary to say, but once you put it out there, it can turn into a comfort for anyone that might also be feeling that way.” Their new album All You Need is Time, is out now on S-Curve Records.

The Academic: Sitting Pretty Tour – w/ Chipped Nail Polish – All Ages- presented by Double Tee
With their self-released debut album, ‘Tales From The Backseat’, The Academic announced themselves with an unlikely bang. Buoyant guitar hooks and earworm melodies coalesced with Craig Fitzgerald’s lyrics about teenage romance and tribulations in rural Ireland to place the band firmly amongst many ones-to-watch lists. Released in 2018, it hit number one in the Irish Albums Chart but had enough of a global reach that over the next few years, the band toured the UK, Europe and North America. In fact, the four friends from the small village just outside of Mullingar in Ireland have been on an upwards trajectory since they decided to learn Kings Of Leon covers to play in their local pub in 2013, all in their early teens at the time. A debut EP of guitar-driven originals followed in 2015 alongside one of the fastest ever sold-out shows at the iconic Vicar Street venue in nearby Dublin. Since then, they’ve released two more EPs (2020’s ‘Acting My Age’ and 2021’s ‘Community Spirit’) and supported the likes of The Rolling Stones, Twenty One Pilots and The Killers. Fans have got lyrics tattooed and their songs have been used to soundtrack weddings. New album ‘Sitting Pretty’ packs an energetic punch. With the band having not played a live show for almost two years due to COVID, by the time they went into the studio with former Kaiser Chief Nick Hodgson, their excitement was at an all-time high. Inspired by the likes of The Kinks, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, The Beach Boys and The Velvet Underground, The Academic were drawn to music that “feels genuine and without pretense,” for this album, which makes perfect sense really. “If this band is any one thing, it’s 100% genuine,” says Stephen. “This record is us wearing our hearts-on-the-sleeve and following our instincts.” The band hopes ‘Sitting Pretty’ “connects on a visceral level with people who are grappling with their sense of self-worth, their identity and not knowing where they belong in the world. It is a struggle to know where you fit or what’s around the corner and it feels like that’s only getting harder,” explains Stephen. “I think a good chunk of young people feel lost or confused. Hopefully there’s comfort to be found in knowing other people feel the same way.” As an Irish guitar band, The Academic have forged their own path. “We started this band from a young age and we’ve always trusted our gut and the music we make. That’s not going to change now,” he explains. Afterall, if you’re following someone else, you’ll always going to be in their shadow. “It just highlights our confidence,” continues Stephen. “We are always willing to change, we are willing to evolve but we also know exactly who we are. with local support from Chipped Nail Polish!

modernlove., Miette Hope – Early Show! – ALL AGES
With larger than life indie-pop anthems born of small town boredom, coming of age, big nights out and young love gone wrong, modernlove are a new generation’s brightest hope – already racking up streams in their millions and selling out shows, simply by singing about what they know and having a good time doing it. From playing dingey rural pubs to working with super-producer Luca (of Arlo Parks and Lana Del Rey fame), this Irish band of young 20-somethings are about to show the world the true heights of their ambition. Miette Hope is a Brooklyn, NY based singer-songwriter and producer. Raised out of the mountains of Colorado, she weaves introspective stories of love, grief and loneliness. Through heart wrenching production that’s supported by manipulated vocal effects, punchy drums, and intricate melodic lines, Miette has carved a genre bending left of center pocket for herself. By melding the lyricism of Pheobe Bridgers the pioneership of Portishead, Remi Wolf and King Princess and the spirit of troubadours Joni Mitchell and Patti Smith, she is unafraid to break the mold with a nod to her influences. Alongside her solo project, Miette produces and writes for several other artists as well as composes music for TV, Film and Ads. For Miette, collaboration is a key factor to her creative process; she champions the NYC music scene by frequently organizing writing camps and networking events to bring her community together. Of her recent track, “Enough,” MTV News declared, “The New York-based singer/songwriter tackles grief head-on with the track, creating a haunting inward journey that finds the narrator coping with pain via whatever means she can to fill the void.” Her songs have received continuous praise from publications like EarMilk and Popdust and editorial placements via Spotify on playlists like, Salt, Soda, Hanging out and Relaxing, Fresh Finds, etc.
